Lawyer volunteer group established to assist COVID-19 prevention

A lawyer volunteer group was established Feb. 17 under the initiative of the Qianhai Belt and Road Legal Services Federation and Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority, to help resolve disputes for enterprises in the area during the COVID-19 prevention and control period.

A lawyer volunteer recruitment notice issued Feb. 9 attracted more than 40 lawyers in Qianhai in half a day.

The lawyer volunteers will be distributed between Qianhai’s three areas of Guiwan, Qianwan and Mawan to provide legal services and allocate lawyers to help enterprises solve legal problems.

In order to better solve the legal problems of different types of enterprises, the volunteer group has eight working teams for disputes of engineering constrution, financial securities, labor and employment, customs and logistics, and intellectual property. The group also has a team to serve overseas-funded enterprises, and a team of Hong Kong lawyers.

According to their respective expertise, the volunteers will also be responsible for legal issues in such fields as finance, logistics, labor relations, contract performance and intellectual property.

To prevent the gathering of people in confined spaces and respond to the legal needs of enterprises in a timely manner, the volunteer group will provide both online and offline legal services. Enterprises can consult with a lawyer online via WeChat, telephone, email, and WeChat When necessary, the volunteers will provide on-site services to help them solve legal problems.

The volunteer group is expected to help resolve legal issues brought about by the epidemic, maintain social stability, and help Qianhai enterprises resume work in a scientific and orderly manner.
