The Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority received a letter of thanks from Merchants Union Consumer Finance Company Ltd. on Feb. 20 for 3,000 masks from the authority.

With a growing number of enterprises resuming work and production, a shortage of virus-prevention gear such as face masks has become the biggest hurdle to safe work resumption. To address the problem, the authority has taken measures to collect supplies from the municipal government, expand procurement channels, and pay attention to materials management and distribution.

Through coordination with the municipal epidemic prevention and control headquarters, the authority has received 18,000 disposable masks and 276,200 N95 masks.

The Qianhai authority has also purchased 12,000 masks in domestic and overseas markets such as Bangladesh, Vietnam and South Africa. At the same time, the authority has coordinated with customs and logistics companies to ensure the smooth customs clearance of and distribution of supplies.

In addition, a total 4.76 tons of medical alcohol have also been transported from Guangxi to Qianhai under the inspection and escort of a staff member appointed by the authority, which will be used for the daily disinfection of major public areas such as Qianhai Stone Park and Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub for about 60 days.

Since late January, a total of about 320,000 masks, 3,000 kilograms of medical alcohol, 12 hand-held thermometers and eight large infrared thermometers have been distributed with priority to nine public service institutions and 48 key enterprises in the area such as Pingnan Railway Co. Ltd., Shenzhen Nanshan Thermal Power Co. Ltd., Qianhai Cooperation Zone People’s Court, Qianhai Tax Service, East Top and E. Sun Bank, guaranteeing the orderly resumption and production of work.

Supplies will be distributed with priority going to front-line enterprises, projects and individuals; the collection of the supplies will be supervised by special appointed personnel; and the collection and distribution of the supplies will be registered and reported every day.
