　　Qianhai is an innovative pilot area to enhance cooperation between Mainland China and Hong Kong in the modern service industry. Endorsed by the central government’s State Council and General Secretary Xi Jinping, the Qianhai zone will develop with a view to “drawing upon Hong Kong, serving the Mainland and engaging the world.”

　　The objective is to boost both cities’ competitiveness, thereby enhancing economic relations between them and serving as a major producer services center in the Asia-Pacific region. By 2020, Qianhai will ideally attract more than 100 Hong Kong-invested businesses operating on a scale exceeding $100 billion  over an area of nine million square meters.

　　In fact, one-third of the land in Qianhai is to be sold to Hong Kong businesses to develop banking, securities, insurance, asset funds, a cross-border commodities training platform, supply chain management, technology services, creative industry and other industries. The establishment of the Guangdong Free Trade Zone is a top priority, as is the promotion of Shenzhen-Hong Kong market collaboration in finance, supply chain management, trading port administration, trading, leasing and additional matters.

　　Qianhai’s success hinges on creating favorable conditions for Hong Kong’s service industry and businesses to thrive and in turn help develop the Mainland’s market. For instance, the new Shenzhen-Hong Kong model utilizes innovative construction and development practices  that have been well-polished from Hong Kong’s unbeatable and broad project experiences.

　　To achieve these lofty goals, Qianhai will secure strong backing from national departments to facilitate cross-border cooperation in key fields such as finance, technology, culture and professional services. Qianhai will also foster sustainable growth through savvy employment and talent development platforms, enabling proficient Hong Kong professionals to smoothly run businesses in Qianhai.
