“Dreams+” Alliance Sets Sail at Qianhai “Maker Week” Gala

  In the morning of June 19, 2015, more than 500 people attended the Qianhai leg of the Shenzhen International Maker Week, launched at the Shenzhen Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub. The event was co-organised by the Qianhai Authority, Shenzhen Youth Alliance and Hong Kong Youth Association, together with the support from the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub.
  Among the attendees were Tian Fu, Member of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee cum Member of the Municipal Government Party Leadership Group, He Zijun, Deputy Chief of the Qianhai Authority, Cai Ying, Chairperson of the Shenzhen Youth Alliance, and Dr Rosanna Wong, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups.
  There were also represe ntatives from the Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub Steering Committee, Shenzhen-Hong Kong collaborative enterprises, youth entrepreneurs from Shenzhen and Hong Kong, young makers, sponsors of the Qianhai “Dreams +” Alliance, and media from local and overseas.
  Of the attendees, about 100 were members of Hong Kong trade associations, entrepreneurship groups, entrepreneurs and investors. It is understood that the Qianhai leg of the Shenzhen International Maker Week was the only leg where representatives from both Shenzhen and Hong Kong attended the event.
  In conjunction with the launch of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong (International) Young Maker Camp, the Qianhai “Dreams +” Alliance was officiated. Established by Qianhai’s Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub, the Qianhai “Dreams +” Alliance is the focal point for more than 100 key entrepreneurial organisations, including Shenzhen, Hong Kong and international trade associations, financial institutions, innovation incubator outfits, entrepreneurial investment units, entrepreneurship training units, media, institutes of higher education, and production-education-research cooperatives.
  The Alliance aims to create an entrepreneurial environment that encompasses interaction, learning, growth and marketization for youth entrepreneurship, and is the first alliance in China targeting at youths from Shenzhen and Hong Kong. 
  The Alliance counts Hong Kong organisations like the Youth Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce, Innovative Industry cum Technological Innovation Committee, Entrepreneurs’ Club, Monte Jade Science Technology Association, Internet Professional Association as its sponsors, together with local and foreign entrepreneurship investors, incubators and related organisations such as Silicon Valley Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum, Tencent Open Platform, China Youth Angel, Caogen Angel, Shenzhen High Tech Investment and Guaranty Company, Green Pine Capital, Co-Win Venture Capital, Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Returnees Association, Qianhai Houde Entrepreneurship Incubator, Dajiang Entrepreneurship (Qianhai) Incubator, Chinese Academy of Sciences Shenzhen Incubator Centre (Qianhai).
  The Alliance is tasked with “creating Shenzhen” as a means to create a “Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovative and Entrepreneurial Zone”. It focuses on the connectivity, cohesiveness and sharing aspects of operations, and is firmly rooted in Shenzhen, with an aim to collaborate with Hong Kong and the rest of southern China to reach out to the world. Through creating a cohesive entrepreneurial environment with a focus on sharing, it aims to support youths from Shenzhen and Hong Kong in their innovative and entrepreneurial endeavours.
  It is understood that preparations for launching the Alliance started since early June, and in less than half a month it has received more than 500 membership applications from different organisations, out of which nearly 200 as sponsor units and more than 300 as founding members.
  At the launching ceremony, Member of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee cum Member of the Municipal Government Party Leadership Group Tian Fu, Deputy Chief of the Qianhai Authority He Zijun, Chairperson of the Shenzhen Youth Alliance Cai Ying, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Dr Rosanna Wong, First Co-Chairpersons of the Alliance Chen Xiongwei and Deng Yongqiang together poured blue water that was originally contained in a rainbow-coloured bottle into the “ocean”, signifying the setting sail of the Alliance.
  The four guests and two co-chairpersons also issued tokens of appreciation to appointed “dream” mentors for 2015, and also witnessed the launch of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovative and Entrepreneurial Development Fund, the first of its kind in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The seven “dream” mentors are Ren Shulu, Vice-President of Huawei, Liu Xiaosong, Board Chairman of A8 Digital Music Holdings, Li Zhu, Partner at Yingnuo Investment Fund, Xiao Shuilong, Board Chairman of CDF-Capital, Luo Fei, Partner at Green Pine Capital, Ding Baoyu, Board Chairman at Co-Win Venture Capital, and Samson Tam, Chairman of Group Sense (International) Ltd. 100 million yuan has been set aside as start-up capital for the fund.
  Thereafter, staff from the Careers Department of the Hub organised a heart-warming welcoming ceremony for 31 entrepreneur teams from Hong Kong who were about to commence operations in Qianhai. The staff welcomed these Hong Kong youths who moved up north to start operating out of the Hub, and wished them great success in fulfilling their entrepreneurial dreams.
  Next up was the “Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Entrepreneurship and Investment Dialogue”, where participants talked about trends in investment and entrepreneurship in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Witman Hung, Principle Liaison Officer for Hong Kong of the Shenzhen Qianhai Authority, was guest host of the dialogue. Dialogue participants included Partner at Green Pine Capital Luo Fei, Board Chairman of CDF-Capital Xiao Shuilong, Heimaying Senior Mentor Ling Daihong, China Youth Angel Executive Director cum Vice Secretary-General Zhang Wei, Hong Kong Fame Entertainment Group Ltd Chairman Li Pei, Board Chairman at Co-Win Venture Capital Ding Baoyu and Shenzhen Shenchen Technology Limited General Manager Zhang Yingjun.
  At the same time, more than 40 young aero-modelling aficionados took part in the Qianhai Dajiang Incubator “Pilot Training Camp” event, held at the central plaza of the Hub. The youths demonstrated their skills at flying drones, and drone engineers from Dajiang Technology explained the intricacies of drone design and operating principles to the youths. The engineers also displayed some of their skills at flying drones.
  The “Dream+ Alliance” Intelligent Hardware Professional Committee cum International Intelligent Hardware and Big Data Entrepreneurial Alliance was also officiated on that day at the Hub’s Entrepreneurship College.
  Guests from Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Beijing engaged in a dialogue session, including Partner at Yingnuo Investment Fund Li Zhu, Qianhai Houde Entrepreneurship Incubator General Manager cum Dream+ Alliance Co-Chairperson Deng Yong Qiang, Yingnuo Investment Fund Lin Sen, Board Chairman of A8 Digital Music Holdings Liu Xiaosong, Former Member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council cum President of Hong Kong Business Angel NetworkPresident Samson Tam, Director of Peking University Science Park Chen Geng, Vice Dean of Tsinghua University Research Centre in Shenzhen cum General Manager of Lihe Kechuang Group He Zhen, President of the Shenzhen Chapter of Tsinghua University Alumni Association Chang Xiaolei.
  The Alliance also invited 20 outstanding intelligent hardware entrepreneurial teams from Shenzhen and Hong Kong to exhibit their work at the “International Intelligent Hardware Entrepreneurial Exhibition”, attracting the attention of many guests and attendees who were passionate about invention and innovation.
  That same afternoon, Shenzhen-Hong Kong International Young Maker Roadshow cum Financing Matching Event was held at the Entrepreneurship College. Close to 10 intelligent hardware cum creator projects were put on display, attracting huge interest from investors from Shenzhen, Hong Kong and overseas.
