On July 2, the 2016 Global Unicorn Training Bootcamp kicked off at Qianhai Shenzhen Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub (E-Hub). During the two-day camp, 20 standout groups meet with some private equity and venture capital firms to discuss about the development of startup companies.

Xu Hongbo, Chairman of InnoHub, said as a major lecturer, “given that China’s economic growth will inevitably slow down, we must get rid of financial bubbles.” The efforts to follow American model of development in the Chinese market is bound to fail, he added.

Xu saw an opportunity in the following five or 10 years to develop consumer economy. He suggested to focus on three areas, chains and fast-moving consumer goods, health care as well as education. The role of “Internet+” in improving the efficiency of traditional industries was also emphasized.

The entrepreneurs generally have a hard time financing, and the amount of financing four times higher than rivals will place startup companies in an advantageous position in the highly competitive market, according to Xu.

Wuman Lanjiang, an expert with corporation management, put forward seven management ideas for startup teams, while Xin Xuejun, the head of new media department at InnoHub, provided affordable marketing solutions. There also were six project roadshows in which startup groups shared their experiences.

Differing from other enterprise-related trainings, the camp provided interdisciplinary courses by investors and media professionals covering the topics about financing difficulties, commercial structure transformation, media marketing and resources allocation.

The 300-square-meter training room accommodated those who are controlling in total of over 200 billion yuan. As short as two days, five projects have already attracted investment by industry giants.
