Building for HK professional service industry to be built

A delegation of Hong Kong professionals met Ma Xingrui, Party chief of Shenzhen, on July 24, and reached an agreement on easing the market access for Hong Kong service industry.

Ma said Qianhai plans to build a building of nearly 600,000 square meters for Hong Kong professional service industry, and offer preferential rents to those who expand business in the mainland. The construction project will start next year.

The establishment of a Shenzhen-Hong Kong union for promoting cooperation in technology and finance will also be put on the agenda.

Ma also said the regional partnership in developing Lok Ma Chau Loop is under process and Hong Kong will have 50 percent of exploitation right.

The delegation expressed its concern of the employment of Hong Kong experts and expressed its willingness to join in the development of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Eliza Chan, a senior consultant of Zhong Lun Law Firm, said Qianhai should take the initiative in recruiting Hong Kong professionals including accountants, lawyers and architects.

Ma said experts in laws, accounting, finance, environmental studies and engineering are in high demand in Shenzhen. The city’s policy makers should prioritize Hong Kong services and encourage more Hong Kong talents to work here.

Ma suggested to introduce Hong Kong professional services in construction evaluation, design, supervision and management.
