Qianhai Shekou Free Trade Zone will invest 70 billion yuan in constructing Guiwan Financial Pilot Area that covers a land area of 1.1 square kilometers. According to the Qianhai Authority, the pilot area will become a mini version of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cooperation Zone and sets a new model for modern service and financial industry.

The financial pilot area is located in the fifth block of the second unit of Guiwan, which is to the south of Guiwan Road Four, the north of Binhai Boulevard, to the east of Linhai Boulevard and the west of Yihai Boulevard. There are 53 construction projects with a total investment of 70 billion yuan, 33 of which are infrastructure projects and 7 of which are land projects. Dozens of projects, including Qianhai Time Square, China Resources Qianhai Center, Zhuoyue Qianhai Financial Center, Hongyi Global PE Center and Mingsheng E-commerce Qianhai Headquarters, settled in the area with a total floorage of around 342 square kilometers,

At the beginning of the plan, Qianhai aims to build a Chinese version of Manhattan that takes a leading role in Qianhai financial development.

The financial centers in Guiwan Area have attracted a number of Fortune 500 companies and financial enterprises.

About 50,000 people will settle in the area before the end of next year and 11.5- billion-yuan investment will be completed this year. The fixed investment totaled 9 billion yuan in the frist half year, reaching 47.8 percent of the total amount of this year. For example, the west part of Guiwan Road Five is open to traffic while the No. 10 area of Qianhai Times Square has opened for business. The No. 7 and No. 8 building of Zhuoyue Phase I with an office space of 14.4 square kilometers passed checks, and they are expected to open at the end of September.

The financial pilot area sets Singapore as a model that involves systematic urban design in architecture, garden landscape, public transit, green space and industry landscape as well as the unique style of Qinahai—“Lingnan,”“Britain” and“Future.”
