Shenzhen’s first batch of judicial expertise institutions for intellectual property started operation in Qianhai on Sept. 2. They are expected to clear the last hurdle of intellectual property protection in the city.
The two agencies, Guangdong Gongbiao Intellectual Property Judicial Expertise Institution and Guangdong Anzheng Computer Judicial Expertise Institution, now have employed 12 and 14 professionals respectively.
“We used to send material to judicial expertise institutions in Beijing and had to commute between Beijing and Shenzhen to communicate with the experts, which costs time and money,” said a local officer surnamed Deng. Now as the institutions settled in the city, police officers and staff from local courts can get identification results within a short time.
According to statistics, in 2015, over 1,100 intellectual property cases were handled by the city’s market supervisory authority, over 1,300 related cases were managed by local police and over 1,400 cases were heard by local courts.
