The Qianhai Authority yesterday held a launch ceremony regarding the compilation of practices, regulations and laws among the Belt and Road countries with the aim of offering the latest information and suggestions to Chinese enterprises, who conduct business overseas.

According to Benchmark Chambers International, the leading developer of the project, they will organize comprehensive research on different legal systems and practices for foreign trade, investment, engineering contracts, labor exporting, intellectual property, taxes, foreign exchange controls and customs. They will also release legal information and research and provide legal services to Chinese investors by applying Internet and cloud technologies.

“The project will be the first Chinese-language legal repository to focus on information from the Belt and Road countries. It is another major exploration for Qianhai’s rule of law innovation,” said Xiao Jingyi, executive director of Benchmark Chambers International.

Chinese companies have built overseas economic, trade and cooperative zones with 56 countries along the Belt and Road.

Another 37 innovative achievements in legal practice were also released at the ceremony. The achievements included five administrative practices, 17 judicial reforms, eight multiple dispute resolution mechanisms and seven legal services.

Li Huanan, deputy Party chief of Shenzhen, said that Qianhai should offer examples for China’s judicial reform and take advantage of its privileges to build a cross-border legal service market and an ideal business environment.

The Qianhai Public Law Mediation Center and Qianhai Modern Rule of Law Research Institute were also inaugurated.
