Famed global angel investors, experts from the business and political arena and entrepreneurs attended the fourth Global Youth Entrepreneurs Forum Qianhai leg Wednesday.

The attendees shared insights about the future development of innovation, the new trends in China’s innovation, the development of blockchain, opportunities created by science and technology industrial parks, the keys to business success, challenges of a startup business and the future development of film and television.

Aimed at enhancing communication between young Chinese entrepreneurs and young overseas talents, especially between Hong Kong youth and their mainland counterparts, the forum not only provided various discussions for visitors to attend but also invited resourceful institutions to establish offices in Qianhai and thus offer bigger platforms for dream seekers.

Huang Xiang, a representative of International Data Group (IDG), which opened the headquarters of its Qianhai incubator Wednesday, said IDG expected to take advantage of the pilot zone to integrate global resources and discover more excellent projects.

“Qianhai is appealing to us because it will attract various resources and will play a bigger role due to its geographic and policy advantages,” said Huang.

Also being a pilot area for financial innovation, Qianhai has seen a soaring number of registered fintech companies. To encourage exploration in the financial sector, the Shenzhen-Singapore-Hong Kong FinTech Alliance was set up in Qianhai at the forum to promote the development of blockchain and other technologies.

Waishun Lo, general partner of Dianliang Investment Management Co. and professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, said, “To attract more professionals to work in the area, especially those from Hong Kong, Qianhai must provide a better transportation solution that shortens the trip for commuters.”

“I am looking forward to opening a new office in Qianhai,” said Yigal Livne, managing partner of the Israeli company OFC-IFund. “I think Shenzhen and Qianhai can become ideal places for entrepreneurs because of the nice natural environment and the complete industrial chain. Qianhai ... can become the Silicon Valley of China.”

The Shenzhen Youth Development City Qianhai Pilot Zone was also set up at the forum.
