Qianhai Snow World celebrated its first anniversary Sept. 29, having welcomed more than 1.3 million visits since opening.

Certified by Guinness World Records‌ as the world’s largest indoor ski center, the facility has helped drive leisure spending across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). It has boosted demand for nearby restaurants, retailers and hotels while supporting the development of related education and sporting events.

For many residents, the center offers a way to ski and enjoy snow without traveling to northern China.

As Shenzhen’s only international-standard, year-round indoor winter-sports destination, Qianhai Snow World has worked to bring skiing beyond professional competition and into everyday life. Its programs range from FIS-certified international competitions to introductory activities for schools and the general public.

The center has also regularly offered free public ski classes and affordable winter-sports programs for children and teenagers, serving more than 10,000 participants over the past year. Once considered a niche sport that was relatively inaccessible in southern China, skiing is becoming increasingly popular with families and recreational athletes.

During the National Day holiday, the center will host a series of activities, including ski competitions for children and young people, traditional Chinese cultural performances, snow-themed music events, family sports challenges and free ski lessons.

Qianhai Snow World will also hold interactive promotions, including a campaign offering limited-edition tote bags to visitors who post videos of their experiences. By combining sports, culture and music, the venue is positioning itself as an emerging hub for youth and trend culture in the GBA while strengthening Shenzhen’s appeal as a tourist destination.
