Nine designs received top honors across various categories at the first-ever Better Design Award (BDA), an international design competition, during an award ceremony held at the Qianhai International Convention Center on Dec. 27.
The Gold Award honors were bestowed upon a select group of innovative designs, including the SPEEDSTER aerodynamic road bicycle, the FireFly multifunctional modular fixed-wing drone, the Translation Machine 4.0, the Loop bench, and the Resona A20 ultra-high-end ultrasound diagnostic system.
The Pioneer Awards recognized the groundbreaking conceptual design of the uMetaCareLink-Visualized Medical Communication Service System and the advanced multi-degrees-of-freedom Tokamak remote-controlled mechanical device.
The Diamond Awards were presented to a large, full-face tunneling/mining machine and the visionary conceptual design of the 2030 Manned Lunar Rover.
Officially launched in May, BDA aims to recognize works and companies that demonstrate design excellence and innovation around the world. Adhering to the concept of designing for a better life, BDA aims to discover good designs globally, create a new engine of industry, lead a new way of life, contribute Chinese design wisdom to the world’s advanced manufacturing industry, and promote Chinese culture.
The event attracted 7,183 design entries from 52 countries and regions around the world.
