Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport achieved a historic single-day record with 200 inbound and outbound flights Dec. 12.
So far this year, the number of international and regional flights at the airport has rapidly increased, exceeding 51,000 flights, a year-on-year increase of 62%.
The increase is attributed to the expansion of Shenzhen’s foreign trade, coupled with the implementation of policies and measures that facilitate travel for both Chinese nationals and international travelers, thereby significantly boosting demand for sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends, and business travel, according to a Shenzhen Special Zone Daily report yesterday.
Cargo flights, which make up roughly 35% of the total, saw a 23% year-on-year increase, with services to 42 destinations internationally. Passenger flights, accounting for approximately 65% of the total, saw a staggering 98% year-on-year increase.
The airport commenced operations in 1991 and ranks among China’s four largest and busiest airports. It was named as one of the World’s Top 10 Beautiful Airports in 2023.
