Work on city’s first circular Metro line makes progress
Construction on the highly anticipated Metro Line 15, the city’s first circular subway line, is well underway, with shield tunneling for its stations recently commencing.
Connecting Qianhai and the central area of Bao’an District, Line 15 starts and ends at the Tinghai Road Station and passes through Mawan, Shekou, Houhai, the Shenzhen High-tech Industrial Park, the Xili Comprehensive Transportation Hub, and the Dachan Bay Terminals. With 24 stations, the 32.2-km line is expected to be completed by 2028.
Line 15 is the first line in the city’s Phase IV urban rail transit development plan (2023-2028) to start construction. Phase IV includes 11 lines with a total length of 185.6 kilometers.
Meanwhile, five new sections on lines 3, 7, 11, 12, and 13 are slated to open by the end of this year, according to Shenzhen Metro.
They are the Shuanglong to Liulian section of Line 3 in Longgang District, the Xili Lake to Shenzhen University section of Line 7 in Nanshan District, the Gangxiabei to Huaqiang South section of Line 11 in Futian District, the Shenzhen Waterlands Resort to Songgang section of Line 12 in Bao’an District, and a section of Line 13’s Phase I in Nanshan District.
