Approximately 50 Chinese citizens and expats from about 20 countries gathered at a cocktail-themed event in Qianhai on Saturday afternoon to share insights about work and lifestyle and participate in hands-on cocktail making.

Sharing perspectives

Following a brief introduction, two expat guests shared their perspectives on work and life in Shenzhen.

American resident Jone Dorris, co-founder and globalization consultant of Sino Associates, a business consulting firm, discussed integrating overseas ideas and approaches into the Chinese market. Drawing from his diverse multinational and multicultural experience, he explained how to blend advanced international concepts with local realities, thereby offering valuable insights to enterprises navigating globalization processes.

Dorris elaborated on topics such as building personal resilience and lessons learned from adopting a localized Chinese perspective.

Maria Petrovskaia, from Russia, shared her personal experiences with leisure and relaxation options related to art and entertainment in Qianhai. Her detailed descriptions of food, music, art, and travel opportunities in the area, from Shekou to the Bao’an central area and the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center, were well received by the audience.

Fernanda Lopez Diaz De Leon, from Mexico, found Petrovskaia’s information particularly useful. She said it helped her gain a clearer understanding of Qianhai’s history, its evolution over the years, and the services available for expats in the area.

Guided by professional bartenders, attendees crafted a variety of cocktails together.

Better services

The HiQianhai event series, an international brand within the Qianhai area, is held regularly on the first Saturday of each month. The cocktail-themed event was the fourth of the series. The goal of these events is to further increase Qianhai’s international visibility and attractiveness through a diverse range of content and formats.

With the continued improvement of the international neighborhood policy and the optimization of international commercial services, organizers believe that Qianhai’s international atmosphere will steadily grow.

The Qianhai International Cooperation Center, one of the event organizers, has played a large role in these events with its unique location and excellent facilities. Located on the sixth floor of the Qianhai International Talent Hub, the center is a shared space for Hong Kong and Macao business associations and international organizations. It offers free shared office areas and provides comprehensive event support services, making it an ideal venue for various international exchange activities.

Furthermore, the Qianhai Authority has formulated a series of specialized policies to provide comprehensive assistance with business establishment, office space, and event hosting, thereby promoting Qianhai’s international development. The implementation of these policies has not only attracted an increasing number of international businesses and talented people to Qianhai, but also laid a solid foundation for creating a global innovation hub and world-class business environment.

By holding the HiQianhai event series, Qianhai aims to attract more international residents to gather and experience the area’s enhanced international environment. In the future, Qianhai will continue to consolidate and expand the achievements of its international neighborhood development, deepen its openness to the outside world, and allow more international friends to experience its charm.
