To further enhance passenger convenience, Shenzhen Metro is piloting a self-service locker service at Huanggang Checkpoint Station on Line 4, Futian Checkpoint Station on Line 10, and Shenzhen World Station on Line 20.

Passengers can quickly and easily store luggage and other belongings by scanning a QR code with their phones.

The lockers are equipped with real-time monitoring to ensure the safety of passengers’ belongings and come in various sizes, from 350mm×272mm×526mm to 350mm×940mm×526mm.

A representative from Shenzhen Metro’s commercial department stated that the subway sees a variety of travelers, such as tourists, businesspeople, commuters, and shoppers. The self-service storage service aims to ease the hassle of carrying heavy backpacks or pushing trolleys, providing a carefree travel experience.

“Given the high daily passenger flow at Metro stations, which demands a high level of security, users must complete real-name authentication through WeChat or Alipay on their mobile phones to ensure the safety and traceability of their stored belongings,” said the representative.

According to Shenzhen Metro, this service will soon be expanded to more Metro stations.
