The 2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) International Auto Show is set to showcase over 1,000 car models that highlight the latest advancements in automotive technology.
The exhibits will include some concept cars and multiple models that will make their debuts in South China and even the country.
With an exhibition area covering 200,000 square meters, the auto show will bring together more than 100 car brands and feature over 50 new car launch events at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an District from Saturday to June 9.
BYD, for instance, will have all of Hall 1 and nearly 30,000 square meters of outdoor space to showcase a full range of auto models, intelligent assisted driving, and intelligent vehicle control systems.
The Shenzhen carmaker will also show the world for the first time how its Yangwang U8 SUV floats on the water at the auto show, according to the auto show’s organizing committee.
On Tuesday, BYD unveiled its latest version of a plug-in hybrid technology, which boasts a record low fuel consumption of 2.9 liters per 100 km on depleted batteries. With a fully charged battery and a full tank of gas, the technology is capable of a driving range of 2,100 km.
The company has also launched sedan versions of its Qin L and Seal 06 models, both equipped with the new technology. According to the company, customers using the new technology can save up to 9,682 yuan (US$1,335) a year in fuel costs compared to those who drive gasoline models.
While focusing on innovation and the application of automotive technology, the auto show will see a combination of automobile consumption subsidies and discounts provided by car companies.
In addition, the auto show will feature a large-scale outdoor exhibition area that will provide diversified test drive and intelligent driving venues on site for a better visitor experience.
M CUBE 2024 Man Machine Mobility, a conference featuring many automotive industry leaders and top scholars, will be held concurrently with the auto show.
Guests to be invited include Lei Jun, founder of Xiaomi, Yu Chengdong, chairman of the board of directors of consumer BG at Huawei, Li Bin, founder of NIO, Zhou Hongyi, founder of 360 Security Group, Liu Tao, co-CEO of Zhiji Automobile, and Oliver Löcher, an executive at Mercedes-Benz.
