Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport facilitated a total of 52.73 million passenger trips and 1.6 million of cargo and parcels in 2023, data from the airport showed Thursday.

The domestic passenger turnover at the airport reached 50.25 million trips, up by 7% compared with the pre-pandemic figures in 2019, which secured the airport’s position as the second-busiest in terms of domestic passenger traffic in China.

Throughout last year, the airport resumed and expanded 22 international and regional passenger routes, connecting the city with 35 cities worldwide across five continents. The operation involved over 670 weekly inbound and outbound flights.

In terms of cargo business, the airport’s parcel and cargo throughput hit 1.6 million tons in 2023, an increase of 6.2% year on year.

The airport also opened and intensified 15 full-cargo routes, including nine routes dedicated to e-commerce, which achieved double-digit growth last year.
