The demand for computing power from colleges, laboratories, and research institutions, as well as metaverse application enterprises and large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) startups, will be more effectively addressed with the launch of the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Artificial Intelligence Computing Power Center, which began operations yesterday afternoon.
Jointly initiated by the Qianhai Technology and Innovation Group and SenseTime, the computing power center is situated on the 13th floor of the Qianhai Information Hub Center. Covering 7,680 square meters, it has become the most powerful intelligent computing center in the Pearl River Delta region.
The center boasts a computing power of 5 billion operations per second. This means that within one hour, it can process 1.6 billion images, complete 1.9 million hours of voice translations, or analyze 7,000 kilometers of autonomous driving AI data.
Xu Li, chairman and CEO of SenseTime, stated that AI is fundamentally reshaping operational models across various industries, including digital cities, smart vehicles, transportation, finance, medical care, and media.
“With the official launch of this computing power center, we anticipate that partners from industry, academia, and research will collaborate to drive continuous innovation and breakthroughs,” he said.
The center’s launch ceremony witnessed a contract-signing event, where enterprises and institutions including Stellaris AI, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong, and Telstra PBS formalized initial cooperation agreements with the center.
