Cooperation in the field of intellectual property rights between Shenzhen and Hong Kong is set to be significantly bolstered following the inauguration of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Intellectual Property Operation Alliance during a conference held in Qianhai yesterday afternoon.
The alliance aims to facilitate continuous exchanges in scientific and technological achievements between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. To achieve this, the alliance plans to create platforms that match supply and demand, fostering collaboration and exchange. By leveraging the alliance, members aim to promote the amalgamation of resource advantages, thereby cultivating a comprehensive competitive edge and a thriving environment within the alliance.
Tsang Chi-sham, deputy director of the Intellectual Property Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, expressed confidence that the alliance will provide an integrated platform for the innovation, industrial, capital, and talent chains in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
“The alliance will particularly facilitate scholars and professionals involved in scientific research from distinguished universities in Hong Kong to establish robust connections with established innovation and technology enterprises, thereby paving the way for the transformation of high-quality scientific research findings into commercial products and industrial ventures,” he said.
The alliance was jointly initiated by various institutions and enterprises from both Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Key participants include the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Tencent, China Resources Corporate Services Ltd., and Shenzhen Mindray Bio-medical Electronics Co. Ltd.
