The U.K.-Greater Bay Area Conference, a joint effort by the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) and the Qianhai International Talent Hub, convened in Qianhai yesterday morning.

The event saw the participation of over 200 delegates and served as a platform for more than 40 speakers, including government officials from the U.K. and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), as well as senior representatives from British and Chinese companies.

The conference delved into various aspects of business, from the latest developments and strategies for British companies operating in the GBA to discussions on data and technology, trade in services and goods, and the potential for Chinese companies from the GBA to invest in the U.K.

Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles, chair of CBBC, underscored the abundant opportunities present in the GBA during his opening remarks.

While acknowledging the challenges associated with establishing a major economic hub, Sir Sherard highlighted CBBC’s role in providing a platform for members to share their vision for the future of the GBA. “CBBC has designed this conference to enhance understanding and awareness of opportunities and challenges, whether for U.K. businesses in the GBA or GBA companies looking to invest in the U.K.,” he said.

Wang Weizhong, governor of Guangdong Province, delivered a video speech at the conference. “We hope that investors all over the world will seize the opportunity to come to China, Guangdong, and the GBA to explore the Chinese market and achieve new accomplishments,” Wang said.
