GBA, ASEAN delegates explore new opportunities
The highly anticipated 2023 ASEAN-China Greater Bay Area Economic Cooperation (Qianhai) Forum was held at the JW Marriott Hotel Shenzhen Bao’an in Qianhai on July 29.
The event attracted the participation of distinguished representatives from 10 ASEAN countries, over 150 foreign guests and 350 delegates hailing from the vibrant Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, who had in-depth discussions on new international cooperation opportunities.
The event was made up of one main forum, four subforums and numerous parallel discussion and exchange sessions focusing on subdivided industries, independent regional cooperation, targeted topics and specialized functions.
Significant announcements were made at the forum, including the release of the ASEAN-Greater Bay Area Economic Cooperation Initiative and the establishment of the ASEAN-Greater Bay Area International Chamber of Commerce Alliance and the ASEAN-China Think Tank Cooperation Partnership.
The initiatives and alliances laid out a comprehensive plan for organized, platform-based and focused cooperation between the Greater Bay Area and ASEAN in key areas such as technological innovation, industrial cooperation, talent exchange and cultural interaction.
The forum has achieved substantial and fruitful results. Six companies from chambers of commerce in the Greater Bay Area reached investment cooperation agreements with ASEAN, with a total intended investment of 3.5 billion yuan (US$489.5 million).
