The Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone of Shenzhen, together with more than 50 representative Qianhai-based cultural companies and organizations, made their debut at the 18th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center to show the current and future development of Qianhai’s cultural industry.

The exhibition hall of Qianhai takes as its theme “With Hong Kong, For the mainland, To the world,” and is decorated in the shape of a blue and white ribbon. The hall consists of three sections, Qianhai Overview, Qianhai Cultural Development and Digital Cultural Experience.

The Qianhai Overview section presents the overall development achievements of Qianhai and the area’s key group companies and high-end think tank clusters; the Qianhai Cultural Development section focuses on Qianhai’s cultural industrial parks, cultural venues and cultural relics. In addition, this section exhibits more than 20 quality cultural enterprises and Hong Kong-funded cultural and creative enterprises in Qianhai and their latest developments. The Digital Cultural Experience section presents an immersive experience exhibition of metaverse for visitors based on the technologies of a number of digital cultural creative companies.

Another highlight of Qianhai’s exhibition hall is a three-meter-tall B.Duck cartoon sculpture, on which some Qianhai elements were added. As a popular original cultural icon, B.Duck is also a representative and an epitome of how Hong Kong-funded companies are significantly developing in Qianhai. The B.Duck intellectual property was created by Semk Holdings International, who set up its mainland office in Qianhai in 2009. Hui Ha-lam, founder of Semk Holdings International and creator of B.Duck said that the economic atmosphere of Qianhai is quite open and focuses on creating a market-oriented, law-based, and international business environment. As a Hong Kong-funded company developing in Qianhai, B.Duck has received all-round support from locals from low-rent housing and well thought out services to preferential taxation benefits.

The experience of a variety of high-tech products makes the tour at Qianhai’s exhibition hall even more fun and memorable. A digital Qianhai exhibition allows visitors to immersively feel the charm of Qianhai. Under the world view of the metaverse, everyone is generating data at any time, and the illuminated spots formed by this data are constantly converging in Qianhai and generating the digital twin of Qianhai. On the other hand, the talkinghead robot, a self-developed virtual human interaction product based on facial recognition, motion capture and real-time rendering realizes the real-time face-to-face communication between tourists and virtual images and can be used as virtual guides and consultants in public scenes such as exhibitions. The two products above were developed by the Qianhai-based L&A Design Qianxi Technology Co. Ltd.

Official statistics from the Qianhai Authority show that as of November, there are more than 17,000 registered cultural enterprises in Qianhai, among them, more than 600 are from Hong Kong. During the ICIF, the Qianhai companies will hold activities such as metaverse member experience and launch events of digital cultural innovation products.
