Recently, Wong Ka-yu, customer development director of Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corp., Wang Yizhe, managing director of Everbright Holdings and Yang Meiji, founding chairman of the Semiconductor Nanotechnology Alliance attended a youth forum held by Hong Kong Youth Science and Technology Parks in Qianhai.
The themes of the forum include the impact of the current international situation on China’s semi-conductor industry, the pattern and the future of China’s chip industry, and how to encourage more global talents in the semi-conductor industry to relocate to China by utilizing Shenzhen and Hong Kong’s advantages.
Wang said that in the past 10 years, the domestic market has witnessed a rapid development in the chip field. “As an investor, I was involved in the creation of the semiconductor and artificial intelligence dollar series funds. The photon and quantum chip technologies have achieved great breakthroughs, and many chip companies have started mass production of their products. The next 10 years will be a golden age of hard science and technology and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements,” he said.
Yang told the audience that he has been in the semiconductor industry for more than 30 years, and has held management positions in top semiconductor companies in the United States, the Netherlands and China’s Taiwan. “At present, there are many major breakthroughs in domestic chip design technologies, and the breakthroughs in the chip industry chain have greatly enhanced the strength of independent chip research and development. I have full confidence that the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks will build a complete and vibrant science and innovation ecosystem.”
The forum also went online via livestreaming on Zoom and other platforms and gained more than 10,000 views online. There will be more activities in the future that will be jointly held by the Qinahai International Talent Hub, Hong Kong Youth Science and Technology Parks and Hong Kong Youth Federation of Science and Technology to encourage the exchange between Shenzhen and Hong Kong talents.
