It will take only 44 minutes to go from Qianhai to Wenjin in the Luohu District after the official operation of the much-anticipated extension of Metro Line 9 starts Nov. 28, according to Shenzhen Urban Rail Transit Association.

The extension, with 10 new stations, is an important link between the Qianhai, Nanyou, and Science and Technology Park areas and Futian and Luohu districts.

The 10.8-kilometer extension starts at Hongshuwan South Station in the east, and ends at Qianwan Station in the west. The other nine new stations along the route are High-tech South, Yuehaimen, Shenzhen University South, Nanshan Book Mall, Nanyou, Nanyou West, Lichi Orchards, Yihai and Menghai.

The extension has five transfer stations. Passengers can transfer to Line 5 at Qianwan Station, Line 11 at Hongshuwan South Station, Line 12 at Nanyou Station, Line 13 at Yuehaimen Station, and Line 15 at Shenzhen University South Station. Line 12, Line 13 and Line 15 are still under construction.

Currently, the extension is undergoing a comprehensive assessment of its reliability and safety. The official operation of the Line 9 extension will further ease the pressure on ground traffic and provide more convenience to citizens.
